Chi Eta Phi Sorority, Inc. is a prestigious national organization for registered professional nurses and nursing students. Founded by Ms. Aliene C. Ewell on October 16, 1932, with the support of 11 dedicated registered nurses, the charter chapter, Alpha, was established at Freedman's Hospital in Washington D.C. The organization was created with two primary goals: to elevate the standards of nursing and to foster greater interest in the nursing profession.

Today, Chi Eta Phi Sorority, Inc. has a membership of over 8,000 registered nurses and nursing students across graduate and undergraduate (Beta) chapters. These chapters are distributed into five regions based on geographic areas and are located throughout the United States, the District of Columbia, St. Thomas (U.S. Virgin Islands), and Liberia (West Africa).

Guided by the motto "Service for Humanity," the Sorority implements programs that focus on health promotion and disease prevention, leadership development, mentoring, recruitment and retention, and scholarships. These initiatives are central to fulfilling the Sorority's mission and upholding its enduring legacy.
